Q1 2024 Performance of Top iOS Social Networking Apps in the US

Social networking applications continue to dominate the iOS platform, and the first quarter of 2024 has shown significant engagement across the United States. Here we delve into the performance of the top five social networking apps, courtesy of data provided by Sensor Tower.

Threads, an Instagram app showed a fluctuating download pattern, with a peak at approximately 900K downloads in early February and a dip to around 492K in early March. The weekly active users steadily increased from around 3.1M to 3.8M users over the quarter.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a steady download rate, starting at around 340K and peaking at roughly 416K in mid-March. Its weekly active users saw a gradual increase from 59M to over 60M by the end of the quarter.

Facebook experienced a consistent revenue stream, ranging from 470K to 672K USD weekly. Downloads for Facebook showed a slight increase from 345K to around 408K in early March, while weekly active users fluctuated, starting at approximately 106M and dipping to 102M by the quarter's end.

Telegram Messenger saw its revenue grow from 134K to 241K USD in February, with a slight decrease afterwards. Downloads remained fairly consistent, with a slight uptick to 315K in mid-March. Active users hovered around 5.9M, peaking at close to 6M in early March.

Messenger, another app by Meta Platforms, Inc., showed modest revenue, with the highest at 65 USD in late January. Downloads saw a notable increase to 324K in late March, while weekly active users saw a slight increase from 43.8M to 42.9M.
